Francis Leads British Juniors Over Romania

Great Britain's Danusia Francis won the all-around as the British juniors defeated Romania in Northern Ireland.

Danusia Francis placed first in the field and led the British junior team to a dual-meet victory over Romania on Saturday in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.

Francis, who finished second all-around at the 2008 British Junior Championships, scored 54.35 to earn the highest all-around rank of the day. She was 17th all-around at the 2008 European Junior Championships.

Second was Romania's Diana Bulimar (53.50), and third was Great Britain's Nicole Hibbert (53.30). Bulimar was third all-around in the Category III division at the 2007 Romanian Junior Championships. Hibbert won the 2008 British junior all-around title and placed 23rd all-around at the 2008 European Junior Championships.

Larisa Iordache of Romania placed fourth (53.00), one position ahead of 2008 British Espoirs junior all-around champion Lizzie Beddoe (51.15). Iordache finished first all-around in the Category III division at the 2007 Romanian junior championships, and fourth all-around at the 2008 Top Gym for juniors meet in Belgium.
