"My plan is to start off the year with a good meet, showing good, clean confidence," said Biles, who placed first all-around at the 2013 and 2014 world championships. "I want to try and put in a few upgrades, and see how they work out and how they score."

Biles said she does not feel much more pressure because the Cup will be taking place in her home state.

"It’s more of a fun factor," said Biles, who trains under coach Aimee Boorman at World Champions Centre in Spring, Texas. "I’m so excited to compete in my home state and in the Dallas Cowboys Arena (in Arlington). We have about 160 people that my family know and from my gym that are coming, so it’s going to be really exciting. It’s a lit bit of pressure but I’m sure it will be OK."

Biles said the American Cup will give her the chance to launch a busy competition year which includes the U.S. championships in Indianapolis in August, and the world championships in Glasgow, Scotland, from Oct. 23-Nov. 1.

"I think it’s a good start to the season and a good kick-off," she told IG. ‘It helps you see where you’re at and what you can do, and how you score. I just want to have fun with it. I think it’s a really good thing to start the year off with.’
