Larisa Iordache (Romania) and Epke Zonderland (The Netherlands) each took two titles as the 7th Doha World Challenger Cup concluded Friday in Qatar.

Iordache, who won women's vault on Thursday, dominated in Doha by adding gold medals on balance beam and floor exercise. On balance beam, she had a large wobble on her full turn in Y but hit the rest cleanly (ff, tucked full; ro, two-foot layout; ro, ff, triple twist dismount). On floor exercise she showed plenty of energy, tumbling a clean piked full-in; tucked full-in, triple twist and double pike.

Armenia's Artur Davtyan won vault with a clean layout Randi (front handspring with 2 1/2 twists) and stuck double-twisting Tsukahara that earned a 9.7 Execution score. Davtyan brought Armenia its third gold in Doha, after his teammates won pommel horse and still rings on Saturday.

The Armenian program has a strong tie to Qatar, as the Qatar men's head coach is former Soviet team member Eduard Gevorkyan from Armenia. Gevorkyan was recently joined by world and Olympic champion Marius Urzica (Romania), who moved to Doha to help coach the men's team. Former Romanian Olympian Razvan Selariu and his wife Carmen Mindricel Selariu, are head coaches for the Qatar women's team.

Zonderland, the reigning world and Olympic champion on high bar, won his specialty plus tied German star Marcel Nguyen for the gold medal on parallel bars.

The International Gymnastics Federation is expected to announce at its meeting in May that Doha will be the site of the 2018 World Championships.
