Gymnasts from Brazil and Cuba dominated the finals at the 2013 Pan American Gymnastics Championships, held Saturday and Sunday in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Brazil took four of the 10 titles available while Cuban talent won three. Canada, Colombia and Guatamela each took one event title. (The U.S. gymnasts were absent because of the U.S. national championships beginning Wednesday in Hartford.)

The Hypolito siblings each won floor exercise for Brazil. Diego Hypolito won men's floor exercise (2 1/2 to double-twisting front; 1 1/2 to Randi; piked Arabian double front; front full to Rudi; layout Thomas; triple twist) while his four-time Olympian sister Daniele Hypolito won the women's title (2 1/2 to layout front; 1 1/2 to front full; double tuck; double pike).

Brazilian Olympan Sergio Sasaki nabbed the gold on pommel horse and teammate Henrique Flores won still rings.

Cuban newcomer Manrique Larduet, 17, was the most successful gymnast of the competition, winning golds on men's vault and parallel bars and the silver medal on floor exercise. Lanrique threw two 6.0-Difficulty vaults (Lopez; layout Randi) with excellent execution. He was also untouchable on parallel bars with a 6.7-D routine (piked front toss; peach half, peach, giant full, uprise to straddled front 1 3/4; Bhavsar; Tippelt; stutz; uprise to stuck double front).

Teammate Dovelis Torres, 19, easily won the women's vault gold with a double-twisting Yurchenko and tucked Rudi (5.7 Difficulty score).

Guatemalan Olympian Ana Sofia Gomez impressed en route to the title on balance beam with a solid exercise (ff, tucked full; switch leap, switch half; side aerial, sissone; side somi; front aerial, wolf jump; switch side; ff, ff, 2 1/2 twist).

Canada's Kailyn Hofland won the gold medal on uneven bars, showing beautfiul extension throughout her routine (giant blind to Jaeger; Ricna; bail to toe-full; freehip hecht; Tkatchev; double front).

Two-time Venezuelan Olympian Jessica Lopez had the most difficult routine of the finalists on uneven bars (piked Tkacthev to Pak; Maloney to bail; Jaeger from elgrip; giant full to Tkatchev; double front from elgrip); but several short handstands left her with the silver. Lopez also won the silver medal on balance beam

2011 Pan Am Games all-around champion Jossimar Calvo won high bar for Colombia with a 7.2-Difficulty set.
