2010 European vault champion Tomi Tuuha (Finland) told IG that his four medals at the recent Northern European championships has inspired him for more success in 2013.

Tuuha helped Finland win the men's team title at the Northern Europeans, held Oct. 20-21 in Glasgow, where he also grabbed gold, silver and bronze medals in apparatus finals.

"Winning the team was a big success for us," said Tuuha, who turns 23 on Nov. 28. "We had pretty much only three guys on each apparatus, apart from p-bars, where we had four guys. So we didn't have chances for mistakes, and luckily we didn't make them."

Two of Tuuha's teammates also claimed individual golds in Glasgow — Markku Vahtila on still rings and Heikki Niva on parallel bars. Kasper Holopainen won the all-around bronze medal and was second to Tuuha on floor exercise.

Tuuha said the team strength bodes well for the Finnish men, who will be looking for more individual success at next year's European championships in Moscow and world championships in Antwerp.

"Holding the titles of Nordic championships and Northern European championships team gold medalists this year is definitely a good start for us next year," he said.

Tuuha said his personal achievements in Glasgow – gold on floor exercise, silver on vault and bronze on rings – added to his feeling of success.

"I was really satisfied with my individual results," he told IG. "Overall the weekend was really rewarding for me."
