World and Olympic champion Aliya Mustafina headlines a top Russian gymnastics squad for this summer's University Games in Kazan, team coach Valentina Rodionenko said Saturday.
Mustafina will be joined by Olympic teammate Ksenia Afanasyeva, a two-time world champion, along with veterans Tatiana Nabiyeva and Kristina Goryunova.
Russia fell to third at the 2011 Universiade in Shenzhen, where the Japanese women grabbed victory over Ukraine.
The 27th Universiade takes place July 6-17 in Kazan, where more than 13,000 participants are expected to contest in 27 sports. Russia is playing host to the event for the second time, following Moscow in 1973.
