FIG Holds Olympic Draw
(0 votes, average 0 out of 5)

The FIG held the drawing of lots Thursday in Tianjin, China, for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. The random drawing determines the competition order for artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline.

The world champion Chinese and reigning Olympic champions Japan both compete in the second of three subdivisions for men on Aug. 9. The U.S. team, second at the 2004 Olympics, is in the first subdivision.

In the women's competition, the world champion U.S. team will compete in the second of four subdivisions. Romania, the defending Olympic champion, and 2006 world champion China are both in the first subdivision.

The draw for the all-around and team finals are seeded based on qualification results, with the top qualifier performing last. Event finals will use the random draw.
