Well, here it is. On the way to London, with the expectations for a very exciting fortnight ahead! We're just a few days away from the Opening Ceremonies and of course gymnastics begins immediately on Saturday.

This afternoon I left Oklahoma, where I have lived and coached since moving to the United States after the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. I'm headed to Heathrow Airport right now, where something like 60,000 athletes, officials and media must pass through to get to London, in addition to the hundreds of thousands of tourists. With all the talk of Olympic security, it is going to be an interesting experience getting through this airport.

As a gymnast, I've been several times to Glasgow in Scotland several times for World Cup events, but I haven't ever actually been in the city of London. So, it should be a fascinating experience and my expectations are for "lots to see, and lots to do." After all, it is the Olympics and it is London, one of the greatest cities in the world.

The purpose of my blog is to give IG fans some sense of the Olympic experience, and at the same time a feel of the host city. Expect a lot of pictures and videos, as well as stories of my personal experiences with the locals, foreign tourists and hopefully the competing athletes, too!
