Veterans Kristina Vaculik (Gemini) and Nathan Gafuik (University of Calgary) captured the senior all-around titles Thursday at the 2012 Canadian Gymnastics Championships in Regina, S.K.

Vaculik, the top qualifier from Tuesday's preliminaries, captured her third senior national title with 56.70. Victoria Moors (Dynamo) and Dominique Pegg (Bluewater) tied for the silver medal with 56.30 each.

Oakville's Jessica Savona returned from a second torn ACL to place fourth (54.80) over Dynamo's Madeline Gardiner (54.35) and 2009 world team member Brittany Rogers of Flicka (54.20). Third in qualification, newcomer Ellie Black (Halifax Alta) fell to sixth but had the top score with 15.10 on vault.

The Canadian women qualified a full team to the Olympic Games in London. Up to 12 gymnasts will be invited to a selection camp next month in Gatineau, Que., where the five-gymnast Olympic squad will be finalized.

The Canadian men qualified just one gymnast to London, and Gafuik put himself closer to claiming the sole berth after winning his second national title. Gafuik scored 85.30 to take the gold medal over Saskatchewan's own Jayd Lukenchuk of Taiso (83.85) and Robert Watson of Richmond (81.95).

Gafuik's 7.1-Difficulty set on high bar brought 15.30, an international competitive score that could contend for a spot in the Olympic final in London.

"When I saw the score there was a huge sigh of relief," said Gafuik, a 2008 Olympian. "It's tough to compete against your teammates. We're all great friends but gymnastics is an individual sport and you always have that competitive edge. Everyone wants to see the best person go and I think everyone is going to support the person that does go."

Omega upstart Shallon Olsen, 12, won the junior title with 58.70, which included bonus scoring for extra difficulty. Sisters Victoria-Kayen Woo (55.45) and Rose-Kalam Woo (55.30) of Quebec's Gym-Richelieu followed Olsen in the rankings.

Competition concludes Saturday with the junior and senior apparatus finals.
