The Chinese gymnasts dominated Sunday's finals at the World Cup in Zibo, winning six of the 10 gold medals.
Two-time Olympian Cheng Fei — the most successful Chinese female gymnast — won the vault title in a triumphant return to international competition. The 24-year-old Cheng, who suffered a torn ACL in 2009, performed cleanly, albeit with simpler vaults than the ones she used to win three world titles (double-twisting Yurchenko and layout Podkopayeva; click to watch video). Cheng edged Mexico's Alexa Moreno, who had the top individual score (14.975) for her Rudi. Top qualifier Yamilet Peña finished third after sitting down her risky handspring double front (video).
Yao Jinnan, the all-around bronze medalist at the 2011 Worlds, picked up gold medals on uneven bars (video) and balance beam. Teammate Huang Qiushuang finished second to Yao on both events.
2010 world champion Lauren Mitchell won the women's floor exercise title, despite a low landing on her first pass (video).
In the men's competition, the Chinese men won half the events. World and Olympic champion Chen Yibing won still rings despite a shoulder injury (video), while 2010 world champions Feng Zhe (parallel bars) and Zhang Chenglong (high bar) won their best respective events.
Romanian Flavius Koczi (video) tied American Steven Legendre (video) for the floor exercise title. World champion Krisztian Berki (Hungary) mastered the pommel horse (video), while Ukrainian Igor Radivilov continued his success streak on vault.
