Canada's Peng-Peng Lee and Australia's Emily Little picked up all-around titles at the 21st International Gymnix, taking place this weekend in Montreal.
Lee, a member of Canada's team at the 2011 Worlds in Tokyo, scored an impressive 57.875 to take the Challenge all-around on Friday evening. Lee played it safe on vault with a simple Yurchenko full, but upgraded on balance beam (standing full) and floor exercise (1 1/2 to Arabian double front mount, double layout second pass). Lee hit her noted uneven bars set as well (toe-blind to Jaeger; toe-full to Bhardwaj; Maloney half; double layout).
Nova Scotia's Elisabeth Black (Halifax ALTA) won the all-around silver over 2008 Australian Olympian Ashleigh Brennan.
Little took the Gymnix Cup senior title on Saturday evening, scoring 55.065 (a high of 14.733 for a double-twisting Yurchenko vault). Canadians Kaitlyn Hofland (54.865) and Bianca Dancose-Giambatti (53.998).
Former world champion Lauren Mitchell (Australia) skipped uneven bars, but had the high marks on balance beam (14.733) and floor exercise (14.833).
Russian Maria Bondareva, who turns 13 in November, won the gold medal in the Junior Cup. Great Britain's Charlie Fellows (Sandbach Gymnastics) won the silver over Canada's Casey Carvalho (Futures Gymnastics).
Competition concludes Sunday with the apparatus finals.
