With a near 8-point margin of victory, Perth's own Lauren Mitchell ran away with the senior title at the Australian championships, held Friday at Challenge Stadium.

Perth's own Lauren Mitchell reclaimed her national all-around title at the Australian championships, held Friday evening at Challenge Stadium.

The 2010 world champion on floor exercise ran away with the gold medal, outscoring her closest competitor by nearly 8 points over the two-day contest. Mitchell won the title in 2009, but missed the 2010 edition with a strained adductor.

Mitchell, who trains at the Western Australian Institute of Sport in nearby Mt. Claremore, is Australia's most decorated gymnast with three world championship medals.

The 19 year old scored 58.350 Friday, nearly a full point higher than her score Thursday. She notched the highest score of the meet on balance beam with 15.550 (6.7 Difficulty score).

Georgia-Rose Brown, second after Thursday, held onto her ranking to win the silver medal by .425 over fellow Victorian Mary-Anne Monckton .

2006 Commonwealth Games champion Chloe Sims (Queensland), third on Thursday, slipped to fourth but had the highest score on uneven bars.

2008 Olympian Ashleigh Brennan (Victoria), sixth, outscored the field on floor exercise Friday (14.200).

The top five senior gymnasts increased their all-around scores from day one, for a combined 5.550 points in improvement.

Queensland's Georgia Godwin won the junior all-around title over Alexandra Eade (Victoria) and Emma Jane Nedov (New South Wales).

Following Sunday's apparatus finals, Australian national team coordinator Peggy Liddick will select a squad for the world team training camp, to take place in September in Canberra.
