Uzbekistan's Daria Yelizarova won the senior all-around title at the 4th Pre-Olympic Youth Cup, held this weekend in Bergisch-Gladbach, Germany.
Gymnasts from eight nations attended this year's competition, which featured age groups for seniors, juniors and youth (age 12-13).
Formerly representing Russia, Yelizarova led a contingent of nine Uzbek gymnasts in Bergisch-Gladbach. Uzbek national coach — and event poster girl — Oksana Chusovitina was away competing at the World Cup in Moscow, where she won the women's vault title Saturday.
Yelizarova topped Germany's Isabelle Zwirtz (Cologne) and Dutch gymnast Annabelle Schmidt (Bato Haarlem) to take the senior title.
Argentina's Valeria Pereyra, 15, won the junior competition with the high score of the meet. Coached by Daniela Conde at Club Vélez Sarsfield in Buenos Aires, Pereyra impressed on floor exercise with her power and elegance. (Click for video.)
Dutch gymnast Lisa Top, who turns 15 in August, was second ahead of 14-year-old German Cagla Akyol.
In the 12-13 age group, Germany's Alina Ehret (TV Rippenweiher) won the gold medal over Australia's Alexandra Eade and Germany's Kim Janas (SV Halle).
