A foot injury suffered in September has left Romanian star Marian Dragulescu at "70 percent" for next week's world championships in Rotterdam, where he is the defending world champion on floor exercise and vault.

"I have a very serious problem with my right foot," he said. "We crossed a difficult period medically and I could not train at full capacity. Now I'm working 'through the pain,' as they say."

Dragulescu injured the tendons in his foot on the eve of the Romanian championships, held Sept. 17-19 in Resita. He said he still plans to compete on floor exercise, vault and high bar in Rotterdam, with the goal of helping the Romanian men in the team competition.

"The team matters the most to me at worlds," said Dragulescu, 29. "You must be in top athletic shape to compete in the event finals with a real chance to medal. Physically, I think my capabilities are only restored to about 70 percent."

Dragulescu said national champion Flavius Koczi is the Romanian men's best chance for a medal in Rotterdam in either the floor exercise, pommel horse, vault or all-around.

"Of the four chances, it's unlikely that he will not even get one medal," Dragulescu said.

Dragulescu's former teammate Ioan Suciu, now the manager for the Romanian men's team, said he is still hopeful for a good showing.

"I think we can make the top eight, but, aside from being optimistic, most importantly would be for us to rank among the top 12," said Suciu, fourth all-around at the 2004 Olympics. "In the all-around final, Flavius Koczi has a chance of making the top six in the world. We hope [Dragulescu] will be able to show us what we've seen before, if not world titles, at least one or two medals. Lately he's had some pain, but not enough to prevent him from training. He has trained very well."

The 2010 Worlds kick off Sunday with the opening ceremonies at the Ahoy Arena. The Romanian men compete Tuesday in the second of two days of men's qualification.

About th efloor, i must admit he has the most accurate routine. It's a bettr chance for him to conqure the world again considering that Hypolito, Nguyen, Zou Kai and Ri Se Gwang are MISSING
