The Romanian women and German men came out on top Saturday at a tri-meet in the northern Swiss city of Schaffhausen.
German national champion Marcel Nguyen will miss the upcoming worlds after breaking his leg in Schaffhausen.
In a final pre-worlds warmup, Romanian champion Ana Porgras led her nation to a comfortable victory over Germany, 229.950-214.400. The Swiss were third with 210.300.
The Romanian women swept the all-around rankings. Porgras scored 58.600 for first, followed by Raluca Haidu (57.400) and Diana Chelaru (57.050).
Romanian coach Octavian Bellu said he was pleased with his gymnasts' performances in Schaffhausen, particularly those of Porgras, Chelaru and Sandra Izbasa.
"We competed well, which will give us some benchmarks, but as far as we are concerned, we know very well that the world championships in Rotterdam will be something else," Bellu said.
The German men scored a solid victory (353.900), taking the highest team total on every event. However, the German victory was hampered by the early injury to national champion Marcel Nguyen. Nguyen broke his right fibula on his opening pass on floor exercise, forcing him out of the upcoming world championships.
Philipp Boy led Germany, winning the all-around with 91.050, followed by teammate Eugene Spiridonov (87.050).
European champion Fabian Hambüchen, suffering from an Achilles injury, performed four events only, including a high of 15.800 on high bar.
Claudio Capelli, third all-around (86.500), helped Switzerland edged Romania, 346.65-345.95. The Romanian men stumbled to third without national champion Flavius Koczi and world champion Marian Dragulescu.
