The American women and Brazilian men dominated the Junior Pan American Championships, which concluded Sunday in Aracaju, Brazil. The U.S. swept the women's competition, led by 2009 U.S. junior champion Kyla Ross. Canada won the team silver, with Brazil taking the bronze. Ross and her teammates Sabrina Vega, Alexandra Raisman and Bridgitte Caquatto took the top four spots in the all-around. Ross and Raisman split the women's event finals, with Raisman winning golds on vault and floor exercise and Ross winning uneven bars and balance beam. Brazil won the men's team and all-around competitions. Sergio Sasaki led Brazil to gold over the U.S. and Colombia. Sasaki edged U.S. gymnast C.J. Maestes for the all-around title, 86.850-86.650. Brazilian Petrix Barbosa won the bronze (85.500). The 17-year-old Sasaki added golds on floor exercise, vault and parallel bars in finals. "I am very happy with these results," he said. "I worked hard for this and this championship was very exciting. Despite the happiness, I know I still have some details to perfect and I will do so going forward.
