Peszek was one of 10 gymnasts chosen to participate in the second and final selection camp, Sept. 30 - Oct. 4. Instead, she will undergo shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum. Originally, her plan was to have the surgery after the world championships, which take place Oct. 13-18 in London. "I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to compete for a spot on the USA world championships team," Peszek said. "The decision was a tough one to make but one that will enable me to get healthy and ready for next season." Peszek, a high school senior who trains at Sharp's Gymnastics, has given a verbal commitment to compete for UCLA in the future. Comments (0)
