Marco Lodadio: ‘I Follow My Way’
(1 vote, average 5.00 out of 5)

Profiled in the July/August 2019 issue of International Gymnast magazine, 2018 world rings bronze medalist Marco Lodadio of Italy told IG that, while he holds rings superstar Eleftherios Petrounias of Greece in high regard, he is pursuing his own path to victory.

“My goal is not to challenge (Petrounias) but to get better and do the best in my possibility,” says Lodadio, who placed second on rings at this spring’s European Championships. “I look at him with respect and admiration, but I follow my way.”

Born March 24, 1992, in the Roman suburb of Frascati, Lodadio quit in frustration after he failed to make the Italian team for the 2015 Worlds, one of two qualification meets for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Four months later he returned to the gym with a fresh appreciation for his unfulfilled talent.

“I started to be conscious of my potential, and that changed everything about my training and my goal,” says Lodadio, who holds a degree in accounting, has coached at his family’s gym and competes for the sports section of the Italian Air Force that enables him to be a professional athlete.
