Despite a couple of competition errors, Canadian gymnast Maegan Chant told IG she enjoyed and gained inspiration from competing at the world championships that took place in Antwerp earlier this month.

"I had so much fun competing in Antwerp," she said. "It was a competition where I really had to rely on balancing physical and mental strength. It was also great to watch the others girls compete and learn at the same time."

In qualifications, Chant placed 21st on vault and 22nd on floor exercise. She attempted a double-twisting Tsukahara as her first vault, and performed a piked barani on her second vault. Chant's floor routine included a double layout, piked full-in, double tuck and double pike.

"Overall, I was relatively happy with my performances on floor, but there is always room for improvement," she said. "My vaults did not go as well as I had hoped. I have better in me."

Chant under-rotated and then stumbled on the landing of her first vault, and stumbled while finishing a turn on floor exercise.

"The vault I was doing, a Tsuk double twist, is a really hard vault," she said. "I just didn't get quite enough height, so didn't fully finish my second rotation. On floor I had problems on my turn because I was trying to go for quadruple. I just fell out a bit early."

Although Chant's performances in Antwerp were not perfect, she said worlds gave her a boost of confidence heading toward the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

"Having this experience really pumps me up for my future competitions, especially worlds in 2014 and 2015, and the 2016 Olympics," Chant told IG. "I know that, with continued hard work, I can compete at the highest level."
