Komova dominated the women's all-around competition, earning the highest score on all four events. She outscored runner-up Natsumi Sasada by close to four points, 59.800-56.100. Komova is the daughter of 1986 Goodwill Games champion Vera Kolesnikova, and will be age eligible for senior competition in 2011.

"It was good to be competing in a very nice atmospher," said Komova, who won the European Youth Festival in June. "Today went very well, especially my routine on balance beam. I'll try to show my best performance tomorrow."

Sasada missed her balance beam mount of round-off full-twisting layout, but earned the second-highest scores on beam, as well as on vault and uneven bars.

American Briley Casanova won the all-around bronze (55.300), ahead of teammate Sophina Dejesus (54.950). Both gymnasts qualified for all four apparatus finals.

Romania's Raluca Haidu, sixth, earned the second-highest score on women's floor exercise.

Yoshioka defeated teammate Shou Yokoyama by nearly two points, 89.350-87.450. U.S. junior champion John Orozco won the bronze (86.700), with Russia's David Belyavsky placing fourth (85.850).

"The strength of the Russian and American gymnasts is clear and I felt the momentum," said Yoshioka, the 2009 Japanese junior national champion. "I will work hard to win in the future."

The competition concludes Wednesday with the individual apparatus finals.
