back on topic, i hope whatever shawn johnson decides is the right decision, and i'm sure it will be. i think it's a good idea to ease into her training, taking it slower at first and then increasing the intensity as time goes on.

as for someone's post about why comebacks are always about the olympics, i think it's because, after you've already been to the olympics, anything else seems like a digression. that doesn't mean you've failed in your comeback if you don't make another olympic team, but that is still the goal, motivating factor. and, as lilypod pointed out, in interviews, that is what shawn or the interviewer has mentioned.

Can you learn to respect others' opinions? I agree with punki that Shawn is the base of the team because She competed all 4 events in the team finals in Beijing. Do you have to correct people whenever you disagree with them? Can't we just agree and disagree?

alexandrite I've never been rude to YOU. If you have personal atachments with gymnasts, that's not my problem. This is a forum to discuss gymnastics and when I don't like a gymnast's gymnastics I will say it.

And Shawn was the base of the US team in both Worlds and Olympics. She had the highest scores on BB, VT and FX and contributed on UB AND she won the most medals (All of this 2007 and 2008, obviously). She was a very valuable gymnast for team USA. We won't deny that.

I am anticipating her comeback, thaz all folks

I think that if Shawn comes back, she won't go farther than nationals unless she feels she is at the same level she was when she left. That's how I would feel too, so I can't really blame her. She's a perfectionist and has high expectations for herself.

Also, though this will just be written off as "hating" Shawn, which I don't, she was NOT the anchor of the team at worlds. She had a fall that was rather costly. That competition was, over all, an ACTUAL team effort, unlike most others.

Well, she is immesenly talented and never needed to train as much as other girls, here's to hope she keeps having the same capabilities.
