Thanks, selecious! So Komova does have adequate difficulty...

Quoting myself (such a narcissist!) just to let everyone know my stance here. I'm not pushing Komova to be seen as the better gymnast, I just think she's fabulous and prefer her style and gymnastics. *pose* We all have different standards by which we evaluate gymnasts.

lilypod you narcissist!!

i'm bothered this turned into a discussion of who's the better gymnast since the title is "by the numbers".

by the numbers wieber is better than komova since she scored a 60.2 and the highest Komova has scored (if i'm not mistaken) is 59.8

therefore by the numbers Wieber has had higher executions scores since, again, by the numbers, Wieber's difficulty score isn't as high as Komova's.

however it is very important to note that both their scores were achieved in different compotion. It is also important to not that Komova's highest score was achieved in international competition whereas Wieber's was on home ground. whether or not that means anything is entirely subjective.

i am curious, Komova seems to have three beam routines that she rotates. One that she has yet to nailed completely but does occasionally throw in competition, usually in event finals. all routines have relatively same elements except the following differences

her simplest routine involves the BH + 2 LOSO, a standing arabian and double tuck dismount in combination

her commonly performed routine includes BH + 2 LOSO, a standing arabian and a patterson dismount done in combination.

the most difficult routine I've seen her throw, includes not only the patterson dismount done in combination, but also a BH + LOSO + Arabian in combination. I don't have difficulty score for this routine but am curious if someone does.

for the record komova is the better gymnast, but i'm not trying to convince anyone. because lilypod agrees

*blushes in shame* Just trying to clarify that I recognize my opinion and standards are only that!

Like I said before, I don't think SCAM scores are fair to compare to scores from the Junior International, but since Wieber hasn't had other AA meets this year (hamstring issue, get better Jordyn!) those are all we really have to go by for her. Hopefully both girls will be competing internationally next year, maybe even in the Youth Olympics. Shame they can't turn senior until 2011.

I like Komova's routine with the bhs+ 2 LOSO (her toepoint is so lovely!) best. I also like the double tuck better than the Patterson but I think she'll probably refine it and keep it in to boost her d-score.

i like the 2 LOSO as well. shows off her lines better and that beautiful toe point. but the BH to LOSO to Arabian is just SUCH a WOW factor, I hope she nails it soon and gets it down, however I am pessimistic! but i agree the 2 LOSO definitely show off her beautiful lines. I think she will keep the patterson though to be internationally competitive difficulty wise. I think she'll need it if she really wants to secure a place on top especially since she has one of the highest scoring beam routines in the world and will no doubt qualify to event finals in whatever meet she competes in.

In fairness to Jordyn, floor is by far not her best event. Her incredible beam set and amanar should help her make up for where she's lacking. She always scored way below where I expected in comparission to everyone else.... I sincerely hope she changes her floor routine while she has been out
