Default Wow, great information job!!!

Hello Marocanu! First of all allow me to congratulate you for the huge amount of information you offer us, gymanstics fans By the way, do you have any high connection to the Romanian Gymnastics Federation? I was between the public at the Worlds in London and I was so impressed by Ana Porgras, so I want to offer her a small financial support. I tried over a week to find a way to do it officially but the FRG is not helping me...Do you have any suggestion?
Keep goin'! We'll wait for the results from Stuttgart Cup
Multumesc mult!

FYI (For Romanian speaking readers) - October 21, 2009

An article with depth about the recent World Champion Marian Drăgulescu (gold medal on FX and VT in London recently) -

it also provides some inside on the sports reality of contemporary Romania (or at least an interesting point of view)

Default PHOTOS Nadia Comăneci - "I was not perfect" (10/2009)

October 26, 2009 - A new interview today in PRO SPORT with legendary Nadia Comăneci of Romania

Nadia Comăneci

"I was not perfect"

A short summary of the article-interview:

- Nadia Comăneci was in London for 48 hours attending the EF @ 2009 Worlds and she kept very busy
(i.e. watching the finals; attending a Laureus Foundation event; interviews for CNN or "The Times"; stopped at Adidas on Oxford Street).

- One medal (bronze) for the Romanian WAG team = too little?
Nadia belives that after an Olympic year, everyone goes through
a difficult time, not only the Romanians... it's "normal" as some girls retired or the stars from the Beijing Olympics did not compete.

- How is posible that the Americans found replacements quickly?
Nadia's answer: they have a large pool to select from.

"Porgras is a new brand"

- And why is that the Romanians can't? Before, there was a pool...
Nadia's reply: Currently, on a daily base, 4 million kids entertain some form of gymnastics...
In Romania, if the exact number should be released, you'll be scared. This explains it.

- What about Ana Porgras?
Nadia: we shall hear about her again. She's totally different from the other Romanian gymnasts; she's a new brand.
Starting with her physical appearance and attitude; everything!

- What about Drăgulescu?
Nadia: can't debate his talent and his strong will helped him comeback. A great champion!

Made a mistake on the perfect 10 balance beam

- The Times wrote few days ago that Nadia is the only human being that has her image associated with perfection.
Nadia laughs, saying that it is not true - she did make a mistake in Montreal...

- But you did get perfect 10!
Nadia explains: the gymnast before me got 9.50 and I was better. What the judges can do? They had to give me a better score...
but I did make one mistake. I know it and I felt it but you could not see it - I'm the only one that knows it!

- Where (did you make that mistake)?
Nadia: On my balance beam routine. At the element called Danilova. I felt that I hesitated and I told myself:
"No, Nadia! You are not allowed to make a mistake; it's the Olympics!"

- Did you see the replays?
Nadia: Yes, I did. Still, you can't see it on video. But I did feel it. I did that routine better in practice.

- What was your secret, Nadia? Bela Karolyi's rigidity maybe?
Nadia: No; everything depends only on you! Bela was severe but if he was telling me to repeat a routine 10 times, I did it 12 or 14 times!

- Nadia was flaterred by the way "The Times" described her recently.

Now, Nadia Comăneci changed her priorities and she doesn't want to miss anything from Dylan's childhood.
This involves sacrifices; must give up some things...
If Dylan would want to practice gymnastics one day, his famous Mom won't stop him! It's his call, however!

3.5 years is the age of Nadia's son, Dylan

47 is Nadia Comăneci's age now

FYI -

For those who are not au fait with Romanian gymnastics jargon: a Danilova is a free cartwheel (side aerial). I can't see the mistake myself...

October 27, 2009 - PRO SPORT about Marian Drăgulescu of Romania: "I gained one pound"

Three days later, Marian Drăgulescu will pair up with Diana Chelaru to represent Romania @ the Swiss Cup in Zürich.

Marian said that he feeld the impact on his body, especially as he has been training & competitng 4 apparatus (FX, VT, PH and HB).
He's now competing more relaxed as the high pressure from the 2009 Worlds in London is gone.
Overall, Marian feels fine; gained a little over one pound (1 lbs) but he'll get rid of it by the competition time, he stated.

's hopes for the upcoming Juniors Nationals (27-29 October 2009)

Coach Carmen Smeu (CSS Gimnastica Focsani)

Maria Rauta was excited and bit nevous @ the "Mircea Frum" Memorial in Constanta.
However, she hopes that the good results from Constanta will repeat at the Juniors Nationals despite the cold weather.
