Default Trying to get info on becoming a judge, not much luck...

I emailed the lady in charge of my state (OH) from the NAWGJ site 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back from her. Is there anyone else I could contract to see what the first steps are to becoming certified? Thanks!

Have you tried to call the NAWGJ director instead? Did you email more than once (it could have gone into a spam filter)? Do you know any of the judges in your state?

One of the first steps you can do on your own is get the books from USAG. If you want to be a compulsory judge, get the compulsory text. If you want to be optional, get the optional text. If both, get both. Everyone has to test this year to be a judge for the next 4 years at their level (exception: compulsory only), so the State Directors are scrambling around trying to set up testing for everyone.

Good luck to you!

Thanks for the tips Kitty! I'll try emailing her again....I'll probably go ahead & order those booklets too, do you happen to know if they're current? I'd hate to get them and then have to turn around & buy updated ones! Thanks again for your help!
Oh yeah, forgot to add that I don't know any of the judges in my state...or any state for that matter!

I was just looking at the books on the USA Gymnastics website and was wondering, would I need to order the JO Code of Points along with the compulsory and/or optional text? Thanks again!

The JO COP (yellow book) is the most updated one. This one is good for the next quad. The Purply book is the Compulsory COP and is good for the past quad and this next quad too (8 years). They are definitely the most up to date.

I would see about phoning the person if your email doesn't get answered.
