Kanayeva Wins Three Golds at World Cup Final

2008 Olympic champion Yevgenia Kanayeva (Russia) won three of the four apparatus titles at the seventh World Cup Final for rhythmic gymnastics, held Saturday and Sunday in Benidorm, Spain.

Kanayeva, 18, led a Russian sweep of the competition in which no all-around was contested. She placed first with hoop, clubs and ribbon. Teammate Vera Sesina placed first with rope.

Ukraine's Anna Bessonova, the 2004 and 2008 Olympic bronze medalist, won three silver medals. Absent from the competition was 2008 Olympic silver medalist Inna Zhukova of Belarus.

2005 world all-around champion Olga Kapranova (Russia), who placed fourth all-around at the 2008 Olympics, won two medals.

Belarus won both group apparatus finals. Russia, the 2008 Olympic group champion, placed fourth.

Spain will also play host to the 2008 World Cup Final in artistic gymnastics. The competition takes place Dec. 13-14 in Madrid.
