Should the FIG celebrate 'world record' scores, as it originally promoted?

Da Brat Bounces off Calories on "Fit Club"

Rap star Da Brat had a blast—and blasted calories—at a gymnastics club in the latest episode of VH1's "Celebrity Fit Club," airing this week and available online.

On "Fit Club," celebrities set out to lose weight and get healthy with the help of nutrition and diet expert Dr. Ian Smith, fitness drill sergeant Harvey Walden IV and psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser.

In the previous episode, Da Brat was the only contestant who refused to take part in a ropes course on a cliff. "You chickened out on that ropes course," Walden told the rapper. "So this week I came up with another plan to get your feet off the ground."

Da Brat worked with veteran coach Yefim Furman at the L.A. School of Gymnastics in Culver City, Calif.

"She came in, and we did some trampoline and some deep conditioning with her," Furman told IG. "It was like a one-hour private lesson. We did a lot of exercises with a gymnastics base."

The episode originally aired on June 10. It will air again tonight at 11:30 p.m. EST and can also be viewed online at VH1's V-Spot. The season finale of "Celebrity Fit Club" airs Sunday.

Da Brat's teammates on the fifth season of "Fit Club" are country music artist Cledus T. Judd, singer Kimberley Locke ("American Idol") and rapper Warren G. They are competing against actress Maureen McCormick ("The Brady Bunch"), actor Dustin Diamond ("Saved By The Bell"), pop singer Tiffany and Ross "The Intern" Mathews ("The Tonight Show"). Each member of the winning team (based on percentage of body weight lost) receives $100,000 in prizes.

Furman, a native of Kiev, was a member of the Soviet team in the 1960s and 1970s and has been coaching in the Los Angeles area since 1979. He coached for several years at UCLA, where his gymnasts included 1984 Olympic team gold medalist Tim Daggett, 1992 Olympian Chris Waller, 1996 Olympian Chainey Umphrey, 2000 Olympian Steve McCain and others. For the past several years he has served as head coach of the artistic team at LASG.

The clip from the workout showed Da Brat and Furman bouncing on the trampoline, with the factoid that trampoline workouts can burn up to 600 calories per hour. The rapper, who has to date lost 21 lbs. on the show, had high praise for her gymnastics experience.

"Guess what Harvey?" Da Brat said. "You did get me back and you did get me up high, but I had a hell of a time!"
