Joura Defends Australian Title

Senior Dasha Joura and junior Emma Dennis won four gold medals each at the Australian Championships in Melbourne.

The women's results were based on two days of all-around competition.

Joura successfully defended her all-around title from 2006, topping Western Australia teammate Lauren Mitchell and Queensland's Chloe Sims.

Joura earned individual titles on vault, uneven bars and floor exercise. Mitchell won the balance beam gold over 2006 world team member Hollie Dykes, who finished fifth in the all-around with multiple falls on both days.

Dennis won the junior all-around title and individual gold medals on uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. She finished second on vault to Victoria teammate Kerby Purcell.

On Sunday, Australia will meet China in an apparatus challenge, featuring four gymnasts from each country on each event.
