Golden Liukin Rings in NY Fame

Golden-clad Nastia Liukin, flanked by actress Elizabeth Banks and tennis star Maria Sharapova, takes in a fashion show Monday at New York Fashion Week.

Gymnastics' biggest star is basking in the celebrity spotlight in the Big Apple this week.

On Monday, Olympic all-around champion Nastia Liukin got front-row billing at New York Fashion Week before appearing on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."

On Tuesday morning, Liukin will appear on "The View." In the afternoon, she and her father, 1988 Olympic gold medalist Valery Liukin, will ring the closing bell at the NASDAQ Stock Exchange.

Her Olympic teammate Alicia Sacramone also attended some shows, but Liukin sat between actress Elizabeth Banks and tennis superstar Maria Sharapova at designer Peter Som's show Monday.

"It's such an honor to be here," said Liukin, clad in gold pumps and a gold Peter Som dress. "I've never been to anything like this."

Liukin, winner of nine world medals, won five medals at the Olympic Games last month in Beijing. She is appearing on the Tour of Gymnastics Superstars, which kicked off Sunday in Reno, Nev. Its next stop is Sept. 19 in Phoenix.

a GOLD dress. Perfect color for an amazingly talented and beautiful gymnast. Nastia rules. She looks so little in the picture. The others in the pic are so tall!

Nastia is a very pretty 19 yo women,but I keep seeing pictures of her and her father in NYC. Why? There is a picture of Nastia and Valeri at the movies last night. How is Nastia suppose to meet any guys with her father always at her side? Doesn't Valeri have a gym business to run? If Nastia needs to have her parents with her then where is Nastia's mom? Just doesn't feel right seeing a 19 yo and her father, especially when he isn't coaching is daughter.

Do you see Valery in this picture? So what if they want to be together? There is nothing wrong with a father and daughter spending time together. I think its great that they share such a special bond. After all, her dad is the one who supported and encouraged her through her entire carrer. Maybe she wants to give time back to him to thank him for all he has done for her. Maybe she's just not ready to "meet guys" yet.

I think that her father is doing a very great job of protecting Nastia. What he does is very respectful.

Think about it, if he is not with her protecting her, she would be traced by a whole bunch of guys, and soon or later, you can easily search internet to find out who she had slept with. Just like Maria Sharapova, you can easily find from the internet that she had at least slept with 5 guys, one of them even mentioned in public how she performed in sex.

I personally can not see how a girl can get a proper love life if all these 'encounters' will become public knowledge, but I am sure that every guy would love to be proud of, and tell anyone that who they had slept with, thus any 'encounters' will surely become public known. If Nastia goes that path, then probably she end up like most of female celebrities, won't even get married after 30. I think her father is preventing these types of things happening, and he is doing well. I hope that he remains her guidance until she get properly married.

And two things Jack, if her father is not with her:
1. she would be surely surrounded by a lot of guys, then you probably don't have a chance anyway.
2. if she does end up sleeping with a dozen+ of guys, you probably wouldn't want her anymore anyway.

So, why would you concern? :)
