Johnson to Lead Pledge at Democratic Convention
Olympic balance beam champion Shawn Johnson will lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the U.S. Democratic National Convention on Thursday in Denver.
Barack Obama's campaign announced that Johnson, 16, will give lead the pledge at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium. Obama will deliver his acceptance speech Thursday night for the Democratic Party nomination for U.S. president.
More than 75,000 people are expected to be in attendance at Mile High Stadium.
Johnson won four medals at the recent Olympic Games in Beijing — gold on the beam, and silvers in the team competition, all-around and floor exercise.
